LISTENING COURSE
Hello!
Thank you for your interest in my listening course based on authentic videos.

Learning English with authentic videos is a fun and engaging way to improve your language skills, and I have put a lot of effort into this course to make this process effective, not just enjoyable :) The course comprises different varieties of the English language: Australian, Irish, South African, American and of course standard British English. The video selection involves extracts of stand up shows, talk shows, TV series and news programmes. I have also included two bonus audios, recorded by an Australian and an Irish specifically for the course.

I have decided to provide you with access to the first lesson absolutely for free so that you try the format and see if the course fits your level. Note that the videos are going to get more challenging as you proceed with the course.

Here are a few tips on how to work with the extract and the exercises:
  • 1
Watch the extract without subtitles for general understanding.
  • 2
    Study the vocabulary list.
  • 3
Watch the video again and pay attention to the details.
  • 4
Read the task and watch the extract as many times as you need to answer the questions.
  • 5
Watch the subtitled version of the extract, look up the words and expressions you did not understand before. Write down the new words which you like and intend to use in your speech.
IMPORTANT: always write down collocations, not separate words. For example, if the new word is challenging, write down a challenging task (not just challenging). You may use Longman or Oxford online dictionaries if you can not think of a collocation.
  • 6
Check the keys and if you've made a mistake, rewatch the subtitled version of the extract again.
  • 7
For the best result, I recommend you to look through your vocabulary notes from time to time.
You may now proceed to watching the extracts.
Good luck and enjoy the course!
